THANTHANIA KALIBARI

Thanthania Kalibari was built by an ardent devotee of the goddess, Shankar Ghosh, around 1703.The clay idol of the deity here is worshiped as Siddheshwari Mata who is believed to fulfill all wishes of her devotees.

LAKE KALIBARI

Situated on Southern Avenue, this temple was built by a devotee, Haripada Chakraborty, in 1949. Initially he established a clay image. Later it was his disciple, Netai Chandra Basu, who took charge of building the present temple. The idol of Kali is made of black stone and is embellished with gold-plated silver jewellery.

KALIGHAT

This place is regarded as one of the 52 shakti peethas. It is believed that Sati’s right toe fell here.Though the face and the body of the goddess are made of black stone, her tongue, hands and crown are made of gold. During puja, it is believed that Kali herself breathes life into the idol. Some devotees offer animals for sacrifice.
